So, what are Cleva Points?

Cleva points are rewards you earn whenever someone sends dollars to your Cleva USD account or when you transfer money to your Naira bank account. The more USD deposits you receive or Naira transfers you make to your local bank account, the more points you earn. And once your points add up to a certain level, you can redeem them into your Cleva USD account — ready to spend, save, or withdraw as you like.

But what does this look like in practice?

The Remote Worker

Take Tomi, for instance — a remote customer support specialist earning $1,500 every month from a U.S. based company. For every $10 she receives in salary, she earns 1 point. That’s 150 points per month. Over 6 months, Tomi would have earned 900 Cleva Points, which she can redeem as $9 added to her Cleva balance, without lifting a finger.

In addition, she converts $500 every month to naira and sends it to her Nigerian bank account to cover expenses. That’s another 50 points monthly, or 300 points in 6 months.

Altogether, Tomi earns 1,200 Cleva Points in 6 months — giving her $12 back into her pocket, just for doing what she already does.

The Upwork Freelancer

Then there’s Bayo, a freelance UI/UX designer who gets paid per project through Upwork. Some months he earns $800, other times up to $2,000. Let’s average his monthly earnings at $1,200.

Over 12 months, that’s $14,400 in total earnings. Based on Cleva’s rewards system, that’s 1,440 points, or $14.40 he can redeem directly into his balance.

How do you earn Cleva Points?

You earn points automatically whenever you receive a USD deposit. This includes payments from:

• Freelance platforms like Upwork
• Employers (paying you in USD directly from a US bank)
• Global payment platforms like PayPal, Stripe, Payoneer, etc.

You also earn points when you transfer money to your Naira bank account. 

There’s no need to activate anything. As long as you’re receiving money or sending money to your local banks on Cleva, you’re earning points! 

Where can you see your points?

You’ll see your total Cleva Points balance when you click on the “Points” tab at the bottom of your screen.

Your current points balance and lifetime points are displayed on the screen.

Also, when you tap on “Points” from your app homepage, you’ll see a full breakdown of your Cleva Points under “History”, including:

• Points earned from USD deposits.
• Points earned from USD to NGN transfers.
• Any points you’ve already redeemed.

How do you redeem your points?
